It is not always a salary increase that can reverse low employee morale.

Lawyers are increasingly demanding better attention from managers or senior management. Sometimes it is a lack of communication, or lack of interaction, that causes poor employer-employee relations. 

To keep morale high in your firm you could take the following steps: 

- Smooth communication

The head of each department needs to talk regularly with his or her employees, whether it is about professional or personal matters. Managers must do their part and start the conversations themselves, so that the employee feels that they are interested in him or her. 

There is no point in coming to the office and staying in the office all day long.

- Appreciation of achievements

Employees give 100% of their effort to firms in the first few months, but if managers are not able to congratulate them on their achievements, or on the effort they put in, it is very likely that the morale of these employees will gradually decline. 

 Lawyers are faced with many projects simultaneously, and it is very beneficial to celebrate well-executed projects. It is important to appreciate the efforts of others.

- Trust and honesty

A good leader has to engender trust in his or her employees. Honesty is also beneficial. Employees need to know the latest news of the firm, and it is at this point that the leader has to be honest with the employees. 

Trust will give employees more freedom to question their own bosses more often. Trust also helps employees themselves to be creative in approaching strategies, to think "outside the box", and to deal better with difficulties.
